Releasing Our Children
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Every mom has a hard time saying goodbye to her grown children. But it would seem especially hard to see them move halfway around the world.
That’s what a friend of mine experienced when her daughter, her son-in-law, and her two grandchildren headed to Cambodia for missions work. Just before they left, I asked my friend, “Isn’t this hard for you?”
She said, “Oh, Nancy, I can’t think of anything more wonderful than to have a child who wants to lay down her life for the sake of taking the gospel to the world. Yes, it’s hard,” she said, “and we won’t see them much in this world, but there’s a whole lot of eternity left after this life.”
I think most moms would love to have their kids and grandchildren close by, but a wise mom wants something even more for her children—the knowledge that they’re following God’s plan.
Are you raising your kids with eternity in mind?
