Responding Well
Woman 1: She was so rude! I’m going to get her back!
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The Bible has a lot to say about the way we respond to people who hurt us. Things like, “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you” (Luke 6:27–28).
Woman 2: He drives me crazy!
Nancy: “Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you” (Col. 3:13).
Woman 3: I’ll give her a little taste of her own medicine!
Nancy: “Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all” (Rom. 12:17).
Woman 4: She said she was sorry. Yeah, right.
Nancy: “And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them” (Luke 6:31).
Today it’s likely that someone’s going to hurt, annoy, or inconvenience you. The question is: Will you respond biblically with patience and forgiveness?
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
