Responsible for Your Response
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: One of the first steps toward choosing forgiveness is to clear your conscience toward those who have wronged you. How have you responded to them? Have you blessed them?
Woman 1: Who’d your dad have with him this weekend?
Nancy: Have you loved them?
Woman 2: She’s not my favorite person.
Nancy: Have you prayed for them?
Woman 3: I wish he’d just die.
You’re not responsible for how others have hurt you. But you are responsible for how you’ve responded. Jesus said it this way: “First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye” (Matt. 7:5).
Do you want to find freedom from hurt and bitterness? Ask God to give you His love toward those who’ve sinned against you. Clear your conscience with them, and then choose to forgive.
