Restore My Soul
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Ask the average woman today how she’s doing, and you’ll likely hear…
Woman 1: Exhausted! I wake up every day with a long to-do list, and I go to bed every night tired.
Woman 2: Even vacation doesn’t help. I seem to come back more tired than when I left!
Nancy: You know, I don’t think the issue is just a matter of how much we have to do. I’m convinced that one of the major reasons we can’t handle the demands of day-to-day living is that our spirits are weary. Our souls need to be restored.
And that’s one of the purposes of a daily devotional time. The demands of a typical day may cause us to fall into bed exhausted, but according to Lamentations 3, God’s mercies are new every morning. If we don’t draw from His fresh, infinite supply of mercy and grace, we’ll have to depend on our own depleted, meager resources. So tomorrow morning, why not take some time to draw from His mercy? Let Him refresh and restore your soul.
