Revival Stats
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: During the First Great Awakening, the Spirit of God moved dramatically in our nation. There was such a hunger for the Word of God that about 20,000 people showed up to hear George Whitefield preach in Boston—and that was when Boston had a population of only about 12,000! People traveled from miles around to repent and seek God.
If you were to take the percentage of people who responded to the First Great Awakening and apply it to today's population, the figures would be staggering. For example, the Chicago area has a population today of about 9 million. If God were to move today in a way similar to the way He did in the 1730s, over 14 million people would show up in Chicago to hear the gospel.
The First Great Awakening brought a dramatic change in the social, moral, and spiritual climate of the day . . . and God could do it again in our day!
Would you pray for the fire of revival to spread throughout this nation?
