Selflessly
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: I'll never forget calling my friend Janiece Grissom as she suffered from the effects of Lou Gehrig's disease. She’d say, “Nancy, you've been on my heart! How can I pray for you?" Janiece couldn’t move her arms or legs, and it was hard for her to speak and breathe. But her focus was on glorifying God by serving other people.
Right at the end of her life, her husband, Tim, told me, "Janiece still spends most of her waking hours praying for other people." A few hours after that conversation, Janiece was in the presence of the Lord.
She died the way she had lived—selflessly loving God and others. Her sole desire, as expressed by the apostle Paul, was that "now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death."
Is that your desire? Are your actions showing it today?
With Seeking Him, I'm Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
