Son of Man
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Have you ever thought about Jesus having a favorite title for Himself?
Jesus is called the “Son of Man” over eighty times in the Gospels alone, and most of those were Jesus referring to Himself.
Think about it: Jesus—fully God, the King of the universe—chose to call Himself the Son . . . of Man! How different we are from Him! We usually want people to know us by our most impressive title. But Jesus chose His lowliest. “Son of Man” reminds us of His humanity. He had a physical body. He experienced hunger, weariness, grief, and temptation.
Sound familiar?
Most beautifully of all, the Son of God became the Son of Man so that we as children of men might become children of God.
Praise Him today for embracing His title, the Son of Man.
