Susannah Wesley
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Having little ones underfoot can present quite a challenge to a mom who wants to develop consistent time with the Lord in the Word and in prayer. That’s why I’ve been inspired by a mom named Susannah, who had nineteen children—nine of whom died in infancy. Somehow this busy mom managed to spend extended time alone with the Lord every day.
I’m sure she had to make some sacrifices to set aside this time. But she was committed to obeying God’s command found in Deuteronomy 4:9. It says, “Keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children.”
Well, you’ve probably heard of two of Susannah’s sons, John and Charles Wesley. They were mighty servants in the kingdom of Christ. Her example had a huge influence on her children. And your children will be impacted as you faithfully seek Him.
I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
