Temptation and Confession
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Some years ago the Holy Spirit convicted me that I had developed a habit of exaggerating the truth.
Now, if I were to share the details with you, you might not think it was such a big deal. But in my heart, I knew I was guilty of lying.
Well, overcoming that habit turned out to be harder than I expected. Then the Lord brought to mind James 5:16, “Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.”
Confessing this sin was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. The pride that caused me to want to exaggerate was the same pride that wanted to cover up my sin. But when I finally did confess to two godly people, that pride was broken and I was set free to begin speaking the truth.
Are you facing some recurring temptation? Being honest with another godly person could be one of the most liberating things you could possibly do.
With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
