The Interests of Others
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: We all have a tendency to love ourselves more than others.
Woman 1: Well, why do they keep asking me to volunteer? Don’t they know how busy I am?
Nancy: We need to make wise choices with our time. But before saying no to an opportunity, are you checking with the Word of God?
For example, Philippians 2:4 says, “Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others.”
We tend to protect and defend our rights. We want to preserve our possessions, time, and reputation.
Woman 2: Now you kids don’t touch anything! (Sigh) How did I get roped in to babysitting?
Nancy: We need to remember the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians.
“I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well” (12:15).
Are you living more for yourself and your happiness, or are others seeing the love of God through your love?
