Train Up a Child
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: John the Baptist had a mission. The only thing that mattered to him was that Jesus be magnified. And that attitude had been taught to him by his parents from birth. John's father, Zechariah, prophesied over the newborn babe:
Zechariah: “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways.”
Nancy: This declaration of calling is not only for parents of a John the Baptist. Every child needs to learn that God put him or her on this earth for a reason and that they've been called to honor God with their life.
Parents, help your children understand that they were not born to serve themselves. All of us are here to prepare the way for Christ to come to others’ hearts and lives. God has placed your children here to know Him, enjoy Him, and make Him known. And they need to know that.
