Vengeance Is Not a Virtue

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The world considers vengeance to be a virtue.

Man 1:. . . and this swordsman had spent his whole life looking for the man who killed his father. When he finally . . .

Man 2: . . . in the next scene, an army comes and kills both of his kids, and so he just went after them. He took his guns, and he just took off after this army. I mean, it was just incredible.

Nancy: Jesus was a different kind of hero. Instead of taking revenge on His enemies, He took the punishment that they deserved.

We’re called to show that kind of love. The apostle Paul says, “Love suffers long.” When God’s love is in us, it means we’re even willing to be taken advantage of, if that will bring Him glory. We’re more concerned about the welfare of others than how their actions affect us.

Would you rather be like a fictional action hero or like Jesus? Ask God to give you His long-suffering love.
