Where Do You Run?
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: There are a lot of oppressors and tyrrants in our world—maybe even in your life. Those kind of people make us want to run and hide
That's how the writer of Psalm 11 felt when he said he wanted to "flee like a bird to your mountain. For look," he said, "the wicked bend their bows, they set their arrows against the strings to shoot at the upright at heart" (vv. 2–3). Verse 4 tells us, "The Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men. His eyes examine him."
The psalm goes on to talk about the judgment of God.
Listen, it's right to want God to step in and judge evil. But when we really think about it, we all deserve judgment. We all need Jesus.
If you are the victim of some else's oppression, don't run and hid. Talk with wise counselors, engage civil authorities where appropriate. But through it all, keep your eyes fixed on the One who is on His heavenly throne. Run to Jesus.
