White as Snow
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The outside of my house has white siding—at least, it looks white most of the time. But in the winter, when the snow falls, the house suddenly looks dingy and yellow. When compared to the pure snow, my house suddenly doesn’t look so clean.
When we compare ourselves to other people, we can look pretty good—kind of like that siding that seems clean. But looking at the holiness of God reminds us of how dirty and dingy we really are.
We get a true picture of our sin when we see it in the light of God’s holiness. When we gaze upon Him, we become aware of our own need. Once we get honest about our own sin, we can take hope in the words of Isaiah 1:18: “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.” The blood of Christ can cleanse us from all sin. Would you spend some time today focusing on the holiness of God?
