Why So Downcast?
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Do you ever have dry spells in your walk with the Lord? I know I do, but I’ve gained great encouragement in those times from Psalm 42.
In the middle of a spiritual desert, the psalmist reminds himself of times past when he felt joy in God’s presence.
Man: “These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving.”
Nancy: By faith he decides to worship, no matter how he feels.
Man: “Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”
Nancy: If you’re in a dry time, why not start making a list of the things God has done? Then make a conscious choice to worship Him.
Man: “My soul is downcast within me; therefore, I will remember you.”
