Write in Your Bible
Pastor: A lot of times when I’m doing a eulogy at a funeral and the person has served the Lord, I ask to see their Bible. I love to read what they’ve written in the margins and see what God has shown them over the years.
Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: If you ever have a hard time concentrating when you’re reading God’s Word, you may want to take some notes in your Bible.
I like to do this when the Lord uses a verse or passage to address a specific need in my life. In fact, recently my own quiet times have really come to life as I've used a journaling Bible to write out my own responses to God's Word. But even in my regular Bible, I use the margins to write things like, “Yes, Lord,” “Make this be true in my life,” or even to write out a prayer for someone else.
If you find it hard to focus when you’re reading the Scripture, you may find it helpful to make some notes in the margin. By doing that, a Bible can tell the story of your own personal journey of faith.
