Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” (Matt. 6:9)
Father God, King of the universe, You reign forever from Your throne in heaven. You are beautiful in Your holiness. Praise for You fills heaven without end (Rev. 4:1–5).
Even the holy, sinless angels hide their faces in Your presence as they sing, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” (Isa. 6:3).
You are holy! Fill me, fill your people, with wonder and awe so that our lives display that you are worthy, “our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and were created” (Rev. 4:11).
You are perfectly pure light. In You there is no darkness (1 John 1:5). Nothing unholy can exist in Your presence. Yet I sin. I often choose to stay in the dark as if I could escape Your judgment. How twisted, when I should run to you for mercy!
Shine the light of your Word into my life. Reveal my hidden faults: pride, jealousy, greed, competition, self-pity, anger, resentment, fear, bitterness, and impatience. Give me grace and Your Spirit’s power to confess and repent.
You sent Jesus to rescue me! Jesus, who always walked in the light, took the punishment for my sin, and shielded me from the wrath I deserved. His blood cleanses me from all guilt and shame so I may enjoy fellowship with You, my holy God (1 John 1:3).
Praise you!—the high and lofty One who lives forever, whose name is Holy.
I’m astounded by Your great promise:
“I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.” (Isa. 57:15)
Praise your holy name.
